MacOS VPN Client Setup

OpenVPN

 

VIPERsurf uses OpenVPN, and runs entirely on open source software to ensure trust and transparency.

That means we don’t provide our own VPN client, so you can trust we aren’t looking at your traffic.

Below are in instructions on setting up your device to connect to the VPN.

Add Your Device

 

These steps assume you have a VIPERsurf account and have created a configuration file for yourself. If you haven’t performed either of these steps, click the relevant links below

Get Your VPN Client

Install the Tunnelblick application by clicking this link or by visiting their download page.

Open the installer once it has finished downloading, then double the Tunnelblick app to install

Accept the Agreement

Allow TunnelBlick to open
(Optional) Check the box to prevent future warnings about opening the app.

Configure

Tell Tunnelblick you have your own configuration file

Accept the following scree

Add Your Key

You should now see the Tunnelblick icon in your notification bar at the top of your screen.

Double click the key file you downloaded, or drag and drop it onto the Tunnelblick icon.

Allow the configuration for only you, then enter your password at the prompt

Connect!

Click on the TunnelBlick icon, and select “VPN Details…”

You should now see your key listed on your left

Make sure the checkbox “Route all traffic” is check

Click connect

You are now connected!

 

Increase Your Security

You should now be secure, however, there are some additional settings VIPERsurf recommends turning on for increased security.
Open up the “VPN Details…” by clicking on the Tunnelblick icon in your notification bar, then click “Advanced” on the bottom left
Select “Connecting & Disconnecting” and make sure your settings match those on the image to the right.

Your Done!

You are now all set.
